Week 26

Major Developments: Nerves in ears are better developed, inhaling and exhaling more amniotic fluid (little fish), putting on the fat, can detect light through optic nerve
Size of baby: Length of English Hothouse Cucumber (14 Inches)

I’m a couple days behind on my blogging. Ugh. I’ve been a lazy mamma.

Week 26 was a good one. Megan finally came to visit. We got to do some baby stuff together while she was here. She was totally amazed by my belly. It is pretty spectacular if I must say so myself. He He. This visit was the first time she has seen me with an actual baby bump. When she moved to Portland, I was still pretty much my normal self. It’s funny because I have actually passed her in weight. She must be thrilled!

Saturday I nearly had a mishap at the dentist’s office. I’ve been having a harder time breathing, which I read is due to my womb putting pressure on my lungs or diaphragm. So the dentist had me tilted at this really strange level. I was having a hard time breathing so I had him sit me up. I think the angle was making things worse. So when he sat me up I was getting all sweaty and dizzy. I’m like, oh geez, here I go passing out at the dentist office. Luckily I felt better after a couple minutes and didn’t pass out… Weird!

Megan, Bre, & I made the cutest dang owls in the world. We are making a owl mobile for the crib. We made the out of felt and some extra stuffing I had around the house. The project was super simple & cheap but a little time consuming. We used the template at the following website: http://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/2011/06/owl-mobile-with-tree-template.html I don’t have a picture of the finished mobile (because I have a thousand half finished projects) but here is a picture of one of the 4 owls and the tree.

I also ended up making a fellow preggers an owl gift. She has an owl themed nursery, so I thought that this little door hanger would be perfect. It says “Owl be Sleeping”. I was so proud to have come up with the idea myself. Eric says I’m always stealing other people’s ideas on Pinterest, but now I can give back to the crafter community!

Sunday Megan, & I went shopping. I was planning on getting a few maternity pants because I need more than one. Hardly any stores have maternity clothes and the ones that do have about 3 items to choose from. H&M has the most decent maternity section that I have seen thus far. They had quite a few pants but they were slightly more than I was looking to spend on something I’ll wear for the next 90 days. I was highly disappointed that the forever 21 & old navy at this mall didn’t have maternity sections. I kept trying on different shirts which all turned out to be huge failures. It was actually getting really depressing. I’m not a huge shopper. I actually usually find shopping to be pretty depressing. Shopping pregnant is highly depressing. My mood was lightened when I found a super cute dress at Old Navy that can be worn post pregnancy. I ended up getting a pair of maternity shorts and maternity capris at the Motherhood store. Not the cutest things on the planet, but they will do. Plus, I got a $20 card for Shutterfly after I bought the pants. Score!!!!! I absolutely adore that website. I found this funny pregnancy cartoon… I wonder what all the other pregnancy commandments are…

The baby is really growing. He has always irritated my ribs but it’s really getting to be an everyday all day thing. He likes to hang out near my rib cage and it is super painful. I think he’s screwed my muscles up or something. Not a position I get into standing, sitting, or laying feels good. I feel like I complain too much. I don’t want to be that person that complains so much that people start to ignore. I think I have finally hit that point in pregnancy where it turns from rainbows and sunshine all day and transitions to overcast with possible chances of severe thunderstorms. I think next month I’ll be in full hurricane watch. I’m just happy that I’m not completely miserable yet. Happy thoughts.

Yesterday I got to take the day off and hang out with Megan, since she left this morning. We went to ikea and got some super cute frames, a shelf, and a cute side table for the rocker.

We also got some fabric at Joanns for the pouf I am making. I can’t wait!! This is what we chose. I got a killer deal, that’s how I roll.

This upcoming weekend is going to be super busy. I’m going to try and get all my unfinished projects finished because Eric’s Dad is moving here on Tuesday! Eeek. We have so much to do. It’ll be nice to not have projects every place possible in the house. Next week I should have a lot more pictures of everything for the nursery.
Wish us luck with the move & busy weekend.

Week 25

Major Developments: Baby is accumulating fat, & growing hair. My uterus should be about the size of a soccer ball. (gross!!)
Size of baby: Weight of Rutabaga and around 13.5 inches long.

Week 25 was fun and exciting!

Earlier in the week, we realized that baby Silva is a twin of Eric. He has the same nose and everything!! At first I thought that they had the same chin until I realized that it is actually the exact same as Megan's. How freaking creepy!!!! Is this baby going to look like me at all??? The only thing of mine he might get is my giant forehead. The good thing about the baby sharing a jawline with Megan is the possibility of less teeth problems. I have so many teeth problems because I have no chin to speak of, not to mention missing permanent teeth among other things. Hopefully that baby doesn't inherent that from me.... Here's the proof.

Thursday we went to the Radiohead concert. They are my absolute all time favorite band. The concert was awesome. We were anxious to see how the baby would react. Now that the baby is working on developing his hearing, I think he totally got to hear the concert. When Radiohead played "Myxamatosis" that little baby went absolutely crazy! He was kicking up a storm. The song has a lot of bass in it and must have really been interesting to our little creature.

Friday we got up at 4 am and made our drive up to Utah. The drive was not bad at all. We stopped at the Hoover Dam to walk across that big scary bridge. It wasn't bad at all!!! Here is baby crossing the bridge:
On the drive I quickly realized that dropping things on the floor was not going to work. If something was dropped on the floor, it was staying there. Baby did not want to pick anything up!!! I worked on my thank you cards from Vegas all the way to Payson!! That was fun and made the time fly!

Saturday was the shower planned by my lovely Aunty Amy and Grandma Frandsen. The shower was so much fun. We played a couple games. We "birthed" babies stuck in ice, played a hilarious candy bar game, guessed my measurements, and played a game where no one could say cute. Super hard not to say that word. I got a ton of adorable stuff. So so so many cute cute cute clothes. We also got a stroller, bouncer, monitor, piggy bank, ect. The decorations were adorable and the food was tasty. Baby sure loves him some Crepes! The shower was so great and I appreciated everyone that came. Getting ready for this baby wouldn't be possible without the support we have received! My family rocks! Here are some pictures of the details of the day.

Sunday we went over to my Grandparents Thomas house. Its always nice to catch up with them!!! We stopped over at Gary's house and saw my new baby cousin Bradly. He was born on Superbowl Sunday. He is such a cutie. I was holding him and had a little panic because he started crying. I hope those mommy instincts kick in asap because I am clueless!! I hope that starts to fade. We also got to spend some time with my Aunt Stephanie & Matt & Melinda. What a busy day. Baby and I were pooped after all of that visiting!

Monday I got more exposure to a little baby boy. Aunty Amy brought over a little boy that she watches on Monday's. His name is Clark and he has the cutest, hugest thighs ever!!!!! He's around 6 months??... Very active little guy. It was cool to see what we are up against in a short while! I got to do a little fabric shopping with Grandma. (For the baby of course) Baby also got to do some shopping with Courtney too. It is so hard to find gray stuff out there! What the heck. I'm seeing so much aqua, which is a color I almost went with in the baby room. Gray & yellow are much more difficult to find.

We are back at home, much to my dismay.. I always hate coming home from Utah.

With all of the stuff coming up, I have been feeling a little frazzled. I had a little melt down one night. Sometimes there is just too much going on. We've got to get this house ready for my father in-laws arrival, which means getting lots of baby stuff done in a short span of time. My back and ribs are really starting to kill me, so that didn't help with my mood. I'm getting closer to that really uncomfortable period of pregnancy. Pants that aren't maternity just flat out piss me off. They make me uncomfortable and miserable. I need to go get a few more pair this weekend or I will just wear my one pair every day of the week.

Speaking of misery, I have officially gained 20 lbs! Its no wonder my back is killing me. I will be exceeding the 130 mark by next week for sure! I don't feel bad about the weight gain, I love my bump. I just don't love the pressure on my back. I think 99% of my weight is in my belly. I have now realized after seeing the shower pictures the other 1% is in my chin. Ugh. I feel like my face is swollen. It doesn't help that I have zero chin.

Baby sister (Megan) will be here for week 26!!! It will be marvelous to have her here to do some baby stuff!!

Anywoooooooot I think I have rambled on for long enough.Sorry for the late post!

Week 24

Major Developments: Pretty lean figure, brain is growing quickly, lungs are developing branches, baby can sense what is upside down and right side up
Size of baby: Long as an ear of corn or about a foot long

Week 24 is over! Hello month 6!
We received some good news this week. Eric’s dad Tulio is going to move to Phoenix from Miami. He finally got the ok from his doctors to move now that his transplant organ is really working with his body well. He decided he wants to move out here April 3! So soon! That really put us into turbo mode on prep for the baby. Tulio will be staying with us in the beginning until he gets on his feet. His dad is a pretty independent person so we are hoping he stays at least a month. He will be staying in the baby’s room while he is at our house. Our place is only a 2 bed 2 bath. This could get awkward when I’m trying to decorate the room. So I’ve made a list of all of the things that I’d like to get done before he gets here so I don’t bother him too much. Whew… it’s kind of long. We are excited to have him. Now our baby will have 2 Grandpa’s and 1 Grandma nearby. I think that grandparents play such a huge role in a child’s life so it is important to have them near.
On Saturday, I met up with a friend to make thank you cards for my upcoming shower. I cannot wait to send them out! They are adorable. I’m getting really anxious to get up to Utah. Not only for the shower but just to be up there. It is always so nice to relax in Utah.
Sunday Bre and I worked on a baby project. We are making a pegboard that will go over the changing station. My changing station is only as long & wide as the changing pad that will go on top. This doesn’t leave any room for diaper storage, baby powder, wipes, ect. This is where the pegboard comes in. I found an adorable idea on pinterest, of course. The pegboard was sprayed grey to match the room. I found super cute wire baskets in the dollar section at target that we sprayed yellow. I also found an adorable yellow metal giraffe to attach as well. I’ll put a bunch of cute things on the board for little baby Silva to look at while I change his stinky little bum. Once I finish it I’ll post a picture.
As we all know, the naming game has been a struggle. Each day, I am asked by countless people what the name is. I told Eric that I would really like to have a name finalized by the shower on Saturday. That would really make me happy! I think we both know what it is but are dragging our feet. Its gotta end! We both agreed that any other names we add to the list are just not going to cut it. So, I’m really really hoping next time I blog we’ll have a name.
Baby Silva has been kicking a ton lately. He is becoming more and more active. He is even letting his daddy feel his little kicks now. Sometimes I’m pretty shocked by how hard he’s actually kicking in there. We might have a little Latino soccer player in there, or maybe a kicker for a football team. Knowing our family gene pool, he won’t be big enough to play football. We’ll go with soccer.
Baby Silva likes to get his fitness on. The other day at the gym I almost had a heart attack. I was walking around the gym and look down and I have this odd lump in my shirt. It was a hard lump just above and to the left of my belly button. It felt round too. I rubbed it and it went away, but it still freaked me out. I read online that the baby might have been sticking his little butt out. That made me feel a little better but it was still creepy. Whenever I am at the gym, baby works on his fitness with mommy. He starts kicking up a storm. He’s going to have the strongest little legs. I don’t feel as many punches as I do kicks. Twice since the tummy lump incident I have felt harder lumps around my tummy. Once I think I felt a leg because it was long and straight rather than hard and round. I’m wondering if I will start seeing weird little shapes under my belly soon.
I have been avoiding maternity pants like the plague. I bought a pair a couple weeks ago but hadn’t put them on because they were major flares. I busted out my sewing machine and hemmed them into skinny pants this week. Man, I wish I had done that earlier. Let me just say for the record, maternity pants are a little piece of heaven. No zipper to mess with, no buttons to mess with.. GLORIOUS! I have been extremely uncomfortable the last few weeks. I have been wearing my regular work slacks but unbuttoned. I have found that wearing a tight fitting cami under my shirt helps to hide the button problem. It is just getting really uncomfortable. Jeans are completely out of the question at this point. I despise them with every fiber of my soul. I hated them before but now I really hate them. My jeans fit me in the leg but in the belly region… that’s a different story. I almost wish that all pants were like maternity pants. With the elastic panel, you don’t have to worry about a belt to keep sagging pants down and there is no need to worry about exposing your butt crack to half the country. You just pull them up and go! So dang comfy. The only problem is I have only one pair. This is the first pair I’ve found that came in something other than a Small, Medium, or Large. These are my regular size with more room to grow. Best pregnancy invention ever! I must find more sized maternity pants.
A little pregnancy humor...
Any whooooot. I have a feeling that week 25 will be just wonderful. Radiohead concert, road trip to Utah, baby shower, the works. J

Week 23

Major Developments: Baby has new sense of movement, lungs are preparing for breathing, inner ear is fully formed, baby is becoming more proportioned
Size of baby: Mango

So I got really lazy last night and didn't post week 23. I was so so sleepy!!

Time is passing by so quickly I cannot even believe it. We are going up to Utah next weekend. My Aunty Amy & Grandma Frandsen are throwing me a shower. Can you believe I'm already getting to that point? Amy sent out the absolute cutest invites in the world. I loved them!!!! I can't wait to go up and hang out with my family. One of my last baby free trips up there! Its always lovely to go to Utah and relax. I'm planning on hitting up a few fabric stores while I'm there. I still have a few things to sew. There is a very limited selection of fabric stores in Phoenix, which is really terrible. I cannot wait!

As far as health goes, I'm still feeling fine. Although, I do have this really strange pain under my right rib. I think that baby is just running out of room. It feels like he has messed with one of my muscles because I have this weird rubbery bump where the pain is. Naughty little thing. I think I have also swapped bladders with an ant. Week 23 was pretty much the beginning of true pregnancy bladder. I am now getting up in the night to "tinkle". This drive to Utah will be quite interesting with all of the possible pit stops! Sometimes I feel like the baby is stretching my insides out. I can only imagine how it will be in the next little while. My lower back is really starting to ache now. I've gained nearly every pound in my belly so I can only imagine my little back is just thinking "Hey man, you can stop at any time". Other than that still feeling wonderful. Everyday I thank my lucky stars that I have been so fortunate in the health area.

The baby is really starting to do a lot of kicking and dancing. He's my little tiny dancer! Last night, I had my cell phone resting on my belly and that baby starting kicking up a storm. My cell phone was literally bouncing. Poor Eric never really got to see it though. Its really funny. Any time I tell Eric the baby is moving watch/feel, the baby doesn't do it. He's a little shy with Daddy. Meanwhile, me and baby are playing tag! Sometimes at work, he kicks me and I'll tap back. That usually goes on for a few minutes and then he gets tired... or bored. He must have tired himself out on Sunday because he did not move hardly at all, which really freaked me out. Saturday night I woke up with pain in my tummy, the stretching kind. Then Sunday he wasn't moving much so I was all nervous throughout the day. I guess maybe he was changing positions or something when I felt that pain, I don't know. He usually kicks in the same region though - under my right rib where I have that annoying pain. Once in a while I'll get a jab to the bladder, but not too often thank goodness. I think he is still chilling upside down.

The name situation is still a mystery. I think we are both really digging the name Grayson Yorke but haven't committed yet. It is a name that we both really like, which is good.... we just haven't given it the green light yet. To me, it rolls off the tongue almost. Who knows. I don't want to rush anything, but I really want to get my name decorations rolling.

Speaking of decorations..... THE BEDDING IS FINALLY DONE! I had my crib skirt done a while ago as you know but now the bumpers are done. Man, they took me a while. I'm rusty on the sewing so I made a few mistakes that I had to figure out. They turned out pretty good. I'm so proud. Usually, I do all my sewing with my Grandma. This is my first project all by my self! Gold star for me. hehe. Here's the finished product. The lighting sucks in the picture but I was really anxious to take a picture last night.

The inside of the bumpers are gray but they look black from the pictures. I'd like to pull a lot more gray into the room so it doesn't seem like a yellow and black room. Bzzzzzzz, who let the bees in??
I also finally chose hardware for that dresser Eric painted so lovely. I couldn't choose between yellow or black on the knobs so I went with both. A little funky, but that was my goal. Here are the before and after pictures:

Speaking of Eric...poor little guy had to have an endoscopy on Monday. Like I said before, he was having some gallbladder problems. We found out he has stones and has to have the gallbladder removed. Poor little guy was so nervous!!! He was high as a kite after the exam!!! HILARIOUS. He will have his surgery scheduled for the end of March or later. I think he's feeling a lot better about it! He'll beat me to a stay in the hospital, which is a good thing. The sooner the better on this thing. I don't think we want another gallstone attack! Here he is after waking up. Dress shoes and all. Funny guy.
After each week that ends, I love pregnancy more and more. I know I keep saying it, but does this really have to end. Its just lovely. Today I got the sweetest email from a friend/coworker about my pregnancy. I have been named by a few people as the cutest pregnant person. Heheh. I don't think I'd say the cutest but it is a sweet thought. Its so nice to have people that are just as excited as you are about your pregnancy. I love sharing my pregnancy with others. Its just a joyous time :)

Ta ta for now!
